Army plans $126M SATCOM support contract

The Army has released a five-year, $126 million solicitation for satellite communications support services.

The contract would keep satellite communications systems fully functional and operational. According to solicitation documents, the company would provide facility, sustainment and maintenance to support on-site SATCOM systems.

The work would include infrastructure encompassing various satellite communication programs, associated equipment, and any other SATCOM systems for the Wideband Enterprise Satellite Systems.

In addition, it would include installation of systems, site planning and preparation, sustainment training, incidental procurement, and engineering. The contract would also provide depot-level and life cycle support for the Global, Joint, and Wideband DOD SATCOM.

The WESS product manager manages the acquisition, development, and modernization of enterprise SATCOM systems and state-of-the-art satellite systems portfolios. Under the WESS manager, the Project Office Satellite Terminal Systems is responsible for acquisition, fielding, and life-cycle management of enterprise wideband Military Satellite Communications earth terminals and associated sub-systems.

The Army plans to hold a competitive acquisition using the best-value tradeoff approach to get a single SATCOM contract.

The Army released the solicitation Aug. 24. Responses are due by Sept. 24. Army officials are accepting questions about the solicitation until Sept. 7.
