GSA's $50B telecom award 'a couple of weeks off'
A top General Services Administration official has pegged the award of its 15-year, $50 billion telecommunications contract as "a couple of weeks off."
The General Services Administration is slated to award its 15-year, $50 billion next-generation telecommunications contract by the end of this month, our sister publication FCW has reported.
Bill Zielinski, deputy assistant commissioner for category management at GSA's Federal Acquisition Service, told a July 13 FedInsider conference the Enterprise Infrastructure Services award is "a couple of weeks off."
GSA received clearance to proceed on the source selection process in May after Windstream withdrew a protest it filed in April to the Government Accountability Office that claimed the company was unfairly eliminated from the competition.
EIS is intended to meet all federal telecommunications needs along with IT and infrastructure requirements. This contract is the the replacement for GSA vehicles such as Networx Enterprise and Networx Universal.
