House to hold IT modernization bill vote after CBO score
The House will vote on the Modernizing Government Technology Act this week and all signs point toward its passage after a positive CBO score.
The House looks set to pass the Modernizing Government Technology Act in a vote scheduled for Wednesday morning, our sister publication FCW reported Monday.
This comes in the wake of the Congressional Budget Office's score of the MGT Act that estimates the bill would cost $500 million to implement. The bill would create a central governmentwide IT modernization fund and authorize revolving funds for IT upgrades at 24 agencies.
That central fund would total $500 million, down from the $3 billion called for in a prior IT modernization bill proposed during the last session of Congress that died in the Senate.
House lawmakers will hold a floor vote for the MGT Act Wednesday morning under suspension of the rules, a scenario that requires a two-thirds majority to pass legislation.
