CMS wants better data system for health plan management
In a new RFI, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services look for better way to manage the Health Plan Management System and its various data collection efforts.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services wants industry feedback on how to enhance its Health Plan Management System.
HPMS is a web-enabled information system that serves both ongoing operations and high-profile initiatives of Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug programs. The system’s functionality enables numerous data collection and reporting activities. It also provides system support for operations of the plan enrollment and compliance business functions, strategic planning and program analysis.
HPMS has about 60 software modules of varying sizes and complexities among CMS systems and connects with numerous entities outside of the agency.
Among various aspects, CMS wants information on managing cost, performance, and schedule requirements, maintaining a toll-free helpdesk and email account for technical assistance, and adhering to the CMS System Development Lifecycle framework.
CMS released a request for information May 18. Responses are due by June 7.
