Leidos nabs $170M contract to support DTRA threat programs

Leidos has won a $170 million contract to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Cooperative Biological Engagement Program (CBEP) and Cooperative Threat Reduction Program (CTR).

CBEP addresses global health security threats by working with partner nations to improve biosafety, biosecurity, and disease surveillance for traditional select agents and emerging pathogens that may cause public health emergencies of international concern, according to DTRA’s website.

CTR similarly promotes collaboration with international and non-governmental partners to advance regional engagement and multilateral cooperation in the biological warfare non-proliferation sector, Leidos said in a release.

Under the contract, Leidos will partner with a number of organizations to develop collaborative research programs and provide training in laboratory research and containment facilities engineering, public health preparedness and emergency response, and disease outbreak field surveillance and response, the company said.

Work will be performed primarily in Northern Virginia and at several combatant commands.

At the end of last month, Leidos won a similar $17 million contract with DTRA to provide modeling and simulation services.
