Accenture makes second cyber deal in two days

Accenture has made its second cybersecurity acquisition in two days with the acquisition of iDefense Security Intelligence Services from VeriSign Inc.

Founded in 1998, iDefense is a cyber threat intelligence business that focuses on vulnerabilities, malicious code and global threats or organizations. The company’s headquarters are located in Northern Virginia.

The acquisition is similar to the company’s recent acquisition of the federal government services business of Endgame Inc., which focuses on threat hunting and cyber defense.

iDefense will augment Accenture Security’s existing cyber defense services with targeted threat intelligence that Accenture will embed into services that it manages for clients’ security operations, the company said in a release.

On the flip side, Accenture’s global delivery network of security professionals will further enhance iDefense’s offerings through new telemetry sources and innovative threat intelligence services.

As background behind the acquisitions, Accenture mentioned in a release recent research that points to a general lack of strategic threat intelligence and proper tools to identify and monitor threats.
