Boeing has won an $82 million contract to provide 12 infrared search and track systems to the Navy.

Boeing has won an $82 million contract to provide 12 infrared search and track systems to the Navy.

The IRST system is a long-wave infrared detection system that targets airborne vehicles in a radar-denied environment, the Defense Department said in a release.

The systems are installed on F/A-18E/F aircraft.

Work will be performed in Orlando, Fla., St. Louis, Mo., Santa Anna, Calif., and Irvine, Calif., and is expected to be completed in January 2020.
