Engility wins $10M task order to combat virus

Engility has won a $10 million task order with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research to combat the mosquito-borne Chikungunya virus.

Under the contract, Engility will conduct clinical trials for vaccines for the virus, which at this point has no vaccines and causes fever and joint pain.

Engility said in a release that according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there were 17 million cases in the Americas in 2015, with the virus entering the continental United States in July 2016.

The task order was awarded under the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command’s $900 million medical product research and development contract.
