Lockheed Martin nabs $6.8M contract to support C-130 aircraft

Lockheed Martin has won a $6.8 million sole source contract to support the Air Force’s C-130 aircraft structural integrity program.

The C-130 is a military transport aircraft that is used in a number of capacities including as a gunship and for airborne assault, search and rescue missions, scientific research support, weather reconnaissance and a number of other tasks.

Under the contract, the company will provide the engineering services and technical support required to perform analyses, formulate deficiency resolution concepts, design proof of concepts, and develop finalized engineering change proposals for ensuring aircraft and aircrew safety of flight, and to maintain the operational life cycle readiness of the C-130 fleet, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed at Marietta, Georgia, and is expected to be complete by Sept. 30, 2018.
