After a nearly 10-month search, DynCorp International has found its new chief executive officer in ex-Leidos executive Lewis Von Thaer.
Von Thaer replaces Jim Geisler, who has served as interim CEO since August 2014. Geisler will continue on with the company as non-executive chairman of the board. Geisler stepped in after the previous CEO Gordon Walsh left the company after about three weeks on the job.
Von Thaer was previously president of the National Security Sector at Leidos, where he was responsible for leading the company’s efforts in ISR, cyber, logistics and systems solutions. Before Leidos, Von Thaer held leadership positions within General Dynamics.
Von Thaer holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University.
