Bechtel team wins $1.5B Air Force engineering contract

A Bechtel-led team has won a $1.5 billion contract to run the Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold Air Force Base.
Bechtel-led team has won a $1.5 billion contract to run the Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.
The company’s National Aerospace Solutions LLC business will manage test operations and sustainment activities for facilities such as wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, ballistic ranges, space chambers and other specialized testing units, the company said in a release.
The Defense Department said that the Bechtel team was picked after a competition involving four bidders.
Work will include test operations, technology development, equipment and facility sustainment, capital improvements and support. In addition to Arnold Air Force Base, work will also take place at Moffett Field, Calif., and White Oak, Md.
The contract runs through Sept. 30, 2023.
Bechtel’s team includes Sierra Lobo Inc., a minority-owned small business with capabilities in advanced engineering, research and development and test evaluation services. GP Strategies is a current contractor at Arnold and provides training, consulting and business improvement services.
Other teammates include nLogic Inc., for control system hardware and software, and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc., which as facilities management and maintenance capabilities.
Bechtel is ranked No. 96 on the 2015 Washington Technology Top 100 list of the largest government contractors.
