General Dynamics taps new head of Aerospace group

General Dynamics has tapped Larry Flynn to replace Joseph Lombardo as executive vice president of the company’s Aerospace group.

Flynn rises to this position from being president of GD subsidiary Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., which General Dynamics acquired in the late 1990s.

In his new role, he will be responsible for both Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. and Jet Aviation, another subsidiary that General Dynamics acquired in 2008.

Flynn joined Gulfstream in 2001 as a vice president, later become president in August 2011, General Dynamics said in a release. Before Gulfstream, he worked at Stevens Aviation as a vice president.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in manpower management from University of Kansas.

Current president of product support at Gulfstream Mark Burns will take Flynn’s place as president of the subsidiary.

Burns joined Gulfstream in 1983. He became a General Dynamics vice president in February 2014.

Both appointments are effective July 1, 2015.
