Preferred Systems makes third acquisition
Preferred Systems Solutions closed its third acquisition of 2014 with a deal that brings Government Contract Solutions into the fold and increases its intelligence capabilities.
Preferred Systems Solutions has closed its third acquisition of the year with a deal to buy Government Contract Solutions Inc.
PSS is based in Tysons Corner, Va., and provides IT, enterprise resource planning, program management and financial consulting services to the federal government and some commercial customers. With the acquisition of GCS, the company picks up more capabilities to serve the intelligence community and defense and civilian customers, the company said.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
GCS’ skill set matches PSS with service offerings including program management, acquisition life cycle management, contract support services, and performance improvement consulting. The company was profiled as part of Washington Technology’s 2011 Fast 50.
“The acquisition of GCS, with an 18 year successful track record of outstanding customer support within the Intelligence and Civilian Federal communities, expands our commitment to those men and women,” said Scott Goss, CEO of PSS, in a company statement.
In an interview, Goss said that GCS strength in the intelligence community was an attraction, as was its strong growth. The company also expands PSS’ capabilities in program management and back office support.
Some of GCS’s customers include the departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Energy and Defense. The company also lists GSA, Health and Human Services, the Marine Corps and Army as customers.
The company holds prime contracts such as a support contracts with the Marines Corps Logical Support Division and the State Department Office of Acquisition Management and subcontracts supporting primes at the Coast Guard and Veterans Affairs, according to its website.
The McLean Group served as an advisor to GCS in the sale.
Goss said that Nicole Geller, the founder and CEO of GCS, would be leaving the company to pursue other interests, but the rest of the management team and operations staying on board.
PSS is backed by the private equity firm CM Equity Partners and this acquisition follows two others: Global Services & Solutions in August and Envision Technical Services in June.
