Raytheon wins $199.7M contract for minehunting systems

Raytheon Co. has won a $199.7 million contract to provide the Navy with sonar systems and other equipment for hunting mines.

The contract’s base value is $35.5 million.

The AN/AQS-20A minehunting sonar system leverages advanced technologies to support the Navy’s minehunting missions, ensuring safe access and passage for military and civilian vessels on the world’s ocean waterways, Raytheon said in a release.

The system is deployed from littoral combat ships.

Work will be performed in Portsmouth, R.I.
