GD wins $25M order for air traffic control radios

General Dynamics C4 Systems has won a $25 million production order to provide the Federal Aviation Administration with air traffic control radios, related accessories and training materials.

This order was won under a task order contract won by General Dynamics in April 2012 as part of the FAA’s Next Generation Air-Ground Communications Segment 2 program.

Specifically, the company will provide software-defined, Voice over Internet Protocol CM-300/350 UHF and VHF air traffic control radios, which will usher in a new chapter of ground-to-air communications, General Dynamics said in a release.

The radios will be installed in airport terminal air traffic control sites, regional control centers and other aviation facilities throughout the United States.

They will replace the administration’s legacy analog radios, some of which are more than 40 years old, General Dynamics said.
