CGI wins $48.7M contract to implement electronic medical record system

CGI has won a $48.7 million contract to implement a new electronic medical record system for the New York State Office of Mental Health.

Under the contract, CGI will implement the Empire State VistA system, which will allow better data collection and improve clinical decision support, as well as increase efficiency by streamlining documentation, eliminating redundant documentation, improving information flow between OMH locations and facilitating collaboration between health and human services programs at state and local levels, CGI said.

The solution is based on the Veterans Affairs' Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture software, known as VistA, which provides integrated inpatient and outpatient electronic health records and administrative tools, the company said.
