Two win orders for distribution system low volume terminals

ViaSat Inc. and Data Link Solutions have won orders for Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Low Volume Terminals, a voice and data communications sytem.

ViaSat Inc. and Data Link Solutions have won orders with the U.S. Navy for Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Low Volume Terminals, or MIDS-LVTs, a data and voice communications system.

Viasat’s contract is worth $21.7 million.

Data Link Solutions’ contract is worth $11.4 million.

The MIDS-LVT provides a secure, high capacity, jam resistant, digital data and voice communications capability for the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Army, the Defense Department said.

These delivery orders combine purchases under the Foreign Military Sales program for the United States, Australia, Oman, and Thailand, the Defense Department said.

Work will be performed in Carlsbad, Calif., Wayne, N.J., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and at other locations worldwide, and is expected to be completed by July 31, 2015.

Funding in the amount full amount of the orders was obligated to the two contractors at the time of the award.

For ViaSat, $980,030 will expire at the end of fiscal 2013 and $894,200 of funding of Data Link Solutions’ order will expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
