QinetiQ North America nabs $20M contract to support bomb disposal robot

QinetiQ North America has won a contract with the Navy to provide man-transportable robotic system post-production support.

QinetiQ North America has won a $20.4 million contract with the Navy to provide man-transportable robotic system post-production support for an bomb disposal robot.

These robotic systems provide the military bomb technicians with a man-transportable capability to remotely perform reconnaissance, the Defense Department said.

Work will be performed in Waltham, Mass, and is expected to be completed by July 2016.

Funding in the amount of $627,970 was obligated at the time of the award, and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

Despite being competitively procured, only QinetiQ North America bid on this contract, the Defense Department said.
