Lockheed expands work with Norad

Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Services has won a $20.8 million contract modification with the U.S. Air Force to support critical operations of the North American Aerospace Defense Command.

Specifically, Lockheed Martin will support the North American Aerospace Defense Command Cheyenne Mountain Complex/Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment in support of air, missile and space defense for the national command authority, the Defense Department said.

The command is better known by its acronym, NORAD, and is tasked with protecting U.S. and Canadian airspace from attacks via missiles, aircraft or space.

This contract modification expands the cumulative value of the contract to $1.8 billion.

Work will be performed in Colorado Springs, Colo., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2013.

Funding in the full amount of the contract modification is being obligated at the time of the award.
