Small businesses complete intell deal
In a move that brings together two small businesses, Subsystems Technologies makes a deal for Alapko that bolsters its work with intelligence agencies.
Subsystems Technologies Inc. has acquired Alapko Inc. in a move that bolsters the company's work with intelligence agencies.
The value of the deal was not disclosed, but with Alapko, Subsystems picks up capabilities in cybersecurity and budgetary analysis, the company said this week.
Alapko was formed in 2008 and provides services such as full lifecyle development and support services for database management, business intelligence, business process re-engineering and budge applications for capital planning and investment control.
The company will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Subsystems.
“We spent considerable time and effort looking for a partner with a similar ethos to ours, and have found a strong fit with our unique culture of innovation in Subsystems,” said John Kovach, Alapko’s CEO.
Subsystems CEO Sam Malhotra praised Alapko’s customer service and leading-edge technologies.
The acquisition should create new opportunities for the company and its employees, company officials said.
Subsystems is headquartered in Arlington, Va., and has $20 million in annual revenue and 120 employees. It is 26 years old, and counts the FAA, Homeland Security Department, Army and Drug Enforcement Administration among its clients.
Its contracts include the Army Global Tactical Advanced Communications Systems, DHS Eagle, FAA Air Traffic Terminal Support Services, GSA Alliant and Navy SeaPort-e.
Alapko is a service-disabled, veteran-owned company. Its name is derived from the Hungarian word for cornerstone or foundation, according to its website.
