HP captures $220M Indiana Medicaid contract

Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services adds to its large stable of Medicaid clients as it captures a contract to build a new Medicaid management information system for Indiana.
HP Enterprise Services added to its large stable of Medicaid clients with a $220 million win in Indiana to build a new Medicaid management information system for the state.
The contract with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration builds on a 20-year relationship as the state’s Medicaid fiscal agent.
Under the new six and a half year agreement, HP will build the new Indian interchange Medicaid Management Information System. Work includes moving users to the new system as well as service delivery and maintenance. The contract’s value could increase as two one-year options are not included in the $220 million price tag.
The new system will connect with the Medical Assistance Provider Incentive Repository application, which HP built in collaboration with Indiana and other states. The application confirms provider eligibility and tracks incentive payments. It helps providers adopt electronic health record technology, HP said.
The Core MMIS also will connect with strategic vendors, serving as the central hub for the state’s pharmacy benefits management and data warehousing. HP said the company will help Indiana create an integrated enterprise Medicaid system.
The company also will continue providing claims processing and resolution, mailroom support, and reporting as well enrollment, education and call center services as the state’s fiscal agent.
Last year, HP processed more than 85 million Indiana health care claims worth about $5.8 billion for nearly 46,000 health care providers treating 1.2 million Medicaid recipients.
