General Electric sees some real applications for big data with what the company already does, and so it has set its eyes on the big data market.
General Electric wants to be a big data company, announcing a platform of products including predictive software, Hadoop-based big data software and a relationship with Amazon meant to help share industrial data in public clouds.
The company’s goal is to bring the internet back to the enterprise realm, Gigaom reported. Their mentality is that better energy efficiency and cost savings can be achieved if you connect power plant data.
