FDA warns medical device users to up security
Because medical devices are prone to cyberattacks, the FDA has released a warning to manufacturers to up the security on such devices.
The Food and Drug Administration put out a warning to a number of groups to mind their mobile device security in order to reduce the risk of cyberattacks.
Among those warned were medical device manufacturers, hospitals, medical device user facilities, healthcare IT and procurement staff and biomedical engineers, PhysBizTech reported.
Medical devices are liable to cybersecurity breaches, which can affect how they operate, the FDA was quoted as saying. The administration has been working with other federal agencies to communicate vulnerabilities when they are discovered, PhysBizTech said.
