DRS Tactical Systems nabs $455M contract for interoperable computers
DRS Tactical Systems has won a contract with the Army to produce rugged tactical computers in support of the Army Mounted Common Operating Environment.
DRS Tactical Systems has won a $455 million contract with the U.S. Army to produce the Mounted Family of Computer Systems hardware.

This hardware will support the Army Mounted Common Operating Environment initiative, which aims to enable secure and interoperable applications to be rapidly developed and executed across a variety of environments, according to the Army's website.
Through the use of rugged C4ISR equipment, the common operating environment streamlines communications between soldiers in vehicles and those in higher headquarters, the Army said.
Place of work performance will be determined with each order.
Three bids were received for this contract.
