ITT Exelis has won a $102 million contract to provide electronic support systems to Australia’s ANZAC frigates and LHD ships, which will enhance the country’s national defense capabilities.
Under the contract, ITT Exelis will provide its ES-3701 Electronic Support Measures suite, which will improve the Royal Australian Navy’s capability to detect radars from other surface ships and aircraft, the company said in a release.
The system provides situational awareness, targeting, self-protection and surveillance, the company said.
“This award positions Exelis as the premier supplier of ESM systems in the Asia Pacific region and is a critical milestone in the region’s enhancement of its defenses,” said Rich Sorelle, Exelis corporate vice president and president of the Electronic Systems division.
The company has provided electronic warfare systems to Australia once before, the company said.
