IBM wins $267M pact to take Ohio to the cloud

IBM has won a 10-year, $267 million contract with the state of Ohio to modernize its computer center through the development of a private cloud environment, as well as through the use of other hardware and IBM services.

The Ohio Computing Center houses infrastructure for a number of state agencies, IBM said.

Through the contract, Ohio will be able to focus on meeting application demands that underpin the services that it provides to the citizens of Ohio, IBM said in a release.

"The approach the state of Ohio is taking will not only address the State's need to reduce costs, but it will also provide its workers and all Ohioans with the resources they deserve thorough a unique collaboration that is based on leveraging the best that our two organizations can offer,” said Kevin Hill, IBM chief executive for Ohio.
