A4 Solutions acquires Metova to make mobile app play

A4 Solutions has acquired Metova Inc., and will be adopting the Metova name as it makes a play to enter the government mobile apps market.

A4 Solutions will be renamed Metova Federal Services and will retain its headquarters in Arkansas. The company is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business that provides information technology services to the federal market. The original Metova will become Metova Mobile.

Part of the motivation for the acquisition is the growing demand for mobile solutions in the government market. "This is a chance for us to get in on the ground floor of the adoption of mobile in the government space. We're already well known within the commercial mobile market, and now we can take that experience to the government sector," said Kevin ross, founder of Metova. He will remain with the company as president of Metova Mobile.

John Adams, A4 founder, will serve as chief executive officer of both companies. According to the company, Adams served in the U.S. Army for over 23 years, where he was a recognized leader in communications and information technology, before retiring in 2009. He founded A4 Solutions in 2011.

Founder of Metova Inc., Kevin Ross, will serve as president of Metova Mobile. Joining the Metova brand in August, Bobby McKinnon will serve as president of Metova Federal Services, the company said.

A4’s chief operating officer, Kevin Hanner, will continue to serve as chief operating officer at both companies.

Metova currently has 62 employees in four cities, and does not plan on having any layoffs as a result of the acquisition; on the contrary, Metova Federal Services will be hiring new employees, the company said.
