GD makes a cyber play with latest acquisition

General Dynamics Corp. has acquired Fidelis Security Systems Inc., a cybersecurity company that specializes in network visibility, analysis. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

The acquisition is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2012, General Dynamics said.

Fidelis Security Systems has locations in Waltham, Mass. and Bethesda, Md., and employs around 70 people in its two locations. It will become part of the Cyber Systems Division of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, which is based in Fairfax, Va.

Fidelis Security Systems will augment General Dynamics’ cyber operations and incident response services by providing visibility into networks that exposes malicious threats in real-time. This will help customers defend against and stop advanced threats and data breaches, General Dynamics said.
