Raytheon snags $176M missile defense contract
Missle Defense Agency to procure radar upgrades over next five years from Raytheon.
Raytheon Co. won a contract valued at $125.3 million with the Missile Defense Agency to upgrade the early warning radar at various Air Force stations and bases across the United States.
The contract combines cost-plus-award-fee, cost-plus-incentive-fee and fixed-price-incentive-fee, and its value could increase to $176.1 million, if all options are exercised.
Raytheon will upgrade early warning radar systems at the following Air Force facilities:
- Clear Air Force Station, Ala.
- Beale Air Force Base, Calif.
- Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.
- Redstone Arsenal, Ala.
The company also has an option to upgrade the early warning radar system at Cape Cod Air Force Station, Mass.
Work will be performed over a five-year period, from July 25, 2012 to Sept. 30, 2017.
Funds will come from the Missile Defense Agency’s research, development, test, and evaluation funds, which amount to $8.8 million in fiscal 2012. Additional funds will come from other Air Force procurement funds, amounting to $19.2 million in fiscal 2012.
