ITT Exelis wins $23.6M contract with Oman Air Force
Oman Air Force to receive defensive electronic warfare systems under contract with ITT Excelis.
ITT Exelis won a contract valued at $23.6 million to provide the Oman Air Force with electronic warfare defensive systems. The contract was awarded by Robins Air Force Base, Ga.
Under the terms of the contract, ITT Exelis will provide 12 airborne integrated defensive electronic warfare suites. The company also will provide support equipment, including spare units.
The systems that the Oman Air Force will procure are Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare Systems (AIDEWS), which serve as radar warning receivers and advanced jamming countermeasures systems.
Pilots will benefit from systems such as these, as AIDEWS allow for increased situational awareness, as well as extra protection in situations where there are radar-based threats, the company said.
According to Rich Sorelle, ITT Exelis electronic systems president, AIDEWS will lend the Oman Air Force “the needed defensive protection for F-16 aircraft.”
