ICF provides EPA with risk assessment tech support

ICF International Inc. will provide technical support to the Environmental Protection Agency under a five-year re-compete contract valued at $12 million, the company announced today.

Under the contract, ICF will support EPA’s Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards across a range of activities, including risk assessment for exposure to chemical mixtures; environmental and exposure model development and application; multimedia risk assessment; characterizing and reducing uncertainty in risk/exposure assessment; and identification of pollutant sources and emissions, ICF said in its July 3 news release.

The company also will assist in the preparation of reports to Congress and other documents; handle risk communication; and support workshops, all focused on air pollutants.

This contract primarily supports the Health and Environmental Impacts Division of the Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards, which has broad responsibilities for risk assessment and other scientific and technical analyses related to protection of public health.

ICF has worked with EPA’s Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards since 1996 developing risk assessment methods for hazardous air pollutants, providing modeling support for EPA’s National-scale Air Toxics Assessment and supporting EPA’s public outreach programs and health communications initiatives, among others.
