L-3 adds pair in preparation for Engility spinoff
Craig Reed and John Heller will help implement the spin-off and then take leadership positions within the newly created Engility Corp.
As part of L-3 Communications’ imminent spinoff of its defense systems engineering and technical services business into Engility Corp., the company has added Craig Reed and John Heller to the L-3 Services Group’s executive leadership team.
They will assist with the implementation plans for the spin-off and then transition to Engility once the transaction is complete, according to the company’s April 30 announcement.
Both will then report to Tony Smeraglinolo, currently executive vice president of L-3 Services Group, who will become Engility’s CEO upon completion of the spin-off.
Reed will serve in the newly created position of senior vice president for strategic development.
He previously served as senior vice president of strategy and corporate development at DynCorp International. He also held several executive positions at Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin and within the federal government.
Reed has a Ph.D. in public policy with a specialization in national security studies from George Washington University.
Heller, who will serve as president of the Command & Control Systems and Software division, has more than 25 years of IT leadership experience.
He recently served as president of Harris IT Services and also has held senior executive positions in the defense industry, as well as in consulting and capital management.
Heller is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and has a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
