Dell buys applications, data transfer company

Dell Inc. has acquired Clerity Solutions Inc., a global provider of applications modernization and re-hosting solutions and services.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Clerity’s capabilities will enable Dell Services to help customers reduce the cost of transitioning business-critical applications and data from legacy computing systems and onto more modern architectures, including the cloud, according to an April 4 Dell announcement.

The company’s unique re-hosting solution makes it easier for customers to move applications off legacy computing architectures into the new IT environment of their choice.

By automating this approach to IT modernization, Clerity helps customers minimize the need to retest systems and retrain IT personnel, which results in overall cost and time savings.

Founded in 1994 in Chicago, Clerity and its approximately 70 employees will be integrated into the Dell Services team.

On April 3, Dell signed a definitive agreement to acquire Wyse Technology, a San Jose, Calif.-based provider of cloud-client computing, to significantly extend its desktop virtualization offerings.
