Agilex taps air travel expert for transport security group

Barbara Vatier will lead the company’s transportation and trade strategy group, which works closely with the Homeland Security and Transportation departments.

Agilex, a government technology solutions provider, has hired Barbara Vatier as director of company’s transportation and trade strategy group.

The group provides leadership in the development of mission-focused solutions for the management of global travel and supply chain logistics. Its focus includes enterprise systems for inspection, targeting and detection; customs collection and clearance; and passenger, baggage and cargo screening.

Vatier's responsibilities will be on aviation security issues associated with homeland security. She has worked for the Air Transport Association, Northwest Airlines and DHL Airways. Vatier has more than 20 years of operational and regulatory experience in the air cargo and passenger airline industries.

Most recently Vatier was managing director for cargo services at the Air Transport Association, representing industry interests with the Homeland Security and Transportation departments.

Previously, she served as director of ground operations regulatory affairs at Northwest Airlines.

She is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook and has served as a visiting professor for transportation policy, operations and logistics at George Mason University.
