SAIC hires public health MD to foster work at CDC
Dr. Edwin Kilbourne is an internationally recognized and experienced clinician who has spent more than 25 years with the U.S. Public Health Service.
Science Applications International Corp. announced that Dr. Edwin Kilbourne has joined the company’s Health Solutions Business Unit as vice president and Atlanta-site lead for the unit within the Civilian Health Operation business.
Dr. Kilbourne, who will report to Mike Eddings, SAIC Civilian Health operations manager, will be responsible for developing and delivering SAIC’s strategic plan in public health, including the company’s work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
He also will coordinate the HSBU and the company’s extensive IT and life sciences capabilities to deliver new solutions and offerings to customers, the company announcement said.
Dr. Kilbourne is an internationally recognized and experienced clinician, scientific investigator, and program manager who has worked in the areas of epidemiology, public health surveillance, environmental hazards, medical toxicology, weapons of mass destruction-based terrorism, and non-proliferation.
Prior to SAIC, Dr. Kilbourne was a senior partner with the health-care consulting firm Martin, Blanck & Associates.
He also served for more than 25 years with the U.S. Public Health Service. He was chief medical officer at the CDC's National Center for Environmental Health and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.
