ManTech makes its move into health care

In a move that will add health care IT expertise to its federal repertoire for the first time, ManTech Corp. acquired health care systems integrator Evolvent Technologies, Inc., according to a Jan. 9 announcement.

Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Evolvent, based in Herndon, Va., is skilled at integrating medical records and information across many different platforms. The company is known to have a particular strength in federal health care systems, and also will offer clinical business intelligence, imaging cybersecurity, behavioral health, tele-health and software development, the announcement said.

"…the people of Evolvent understand the health care system from the patient-provider relationship through the integration of data and images and the management of records," said ManTech Chairman and CEO George Pedersen in the statement. "They are a great match for ManTech's proven capabilities in enterprise IT and systems integration."

The defense contractor will not only tap its new purchase for health IT expertise to contribute to its growth and operating margins, but will add Evolvent's extensive federal customer base within the departments of Health and Human Services, Veterans Affairs and Defense.

ManTech will add Evolvent to its Systems Engineering & Advanced Technology group.

The investment bank Gleacher and Co. served as an advisor to Evolvent.
