DHS planning electronic-bidding option to replace paper
In an effort to keep contractors' wallets fatter and streamline their focus, DHS wants to replace paper bids with Web portals for proposals.
Contractors soon may no longer need to spend cash on paper and the packaging of paper proposals used in the bidding process under contracting improvements promised by the Homeland Security Department.
DHS Undersecretary for Management Rafael Borras, speaking at the DHS Industry Day in Washington on Jan. 26, said the creation of Web-based portals for electronic bidding is one way DHS can save companies money and allow them more time to focus on their proposals, reports the Federal Times.
In response to complaints that by the time bids are sought it is often too late to clarify requirements, Borras said that the department also will host forums so companies can ask questions about contracts before requests for proposals are issued, the article said.
