Grant Thornton buy adds health care offerings, 5 DOD contracts

Grant Thornton LLP will expand its health care offerings and add five military health care contracts with the acquisition of Computer Technology Associates’ Health Solutions division.

Financial terms of the deal were not reported in the Nov. 7 announcement.

The acquisition of the Arlington, Va., business strengthens the ability of Grant Thornton’s Global Public Sector practice to serve commercial, civilian and military health organizations, the company said.

The deal also augments the firm’s position on the TRICARE Evaluation, Analysis and Management Support (TEAMS) contract that supports military health care for the TRICARE Management Activity (TMA) and military services within the Defense Department.

Contracts moving to Grant Thornton include work on the TMA Supplemental Health Care Program, Defense Centers of Excellence (DCoE) Program Management Support, DCoE Executive Staff Support, Clinical and Program Policy and Defense Health Board.

Stephen Casey, executive vice president of CTA’s Health Solutions division, joins Grant Thornton along with a team of specialists in the field. He has 10 years of program management experience within the Military Health System and 29 years overall in health care and related information technology.

Grant Thornton has worked successfully with government health care organizations, including the Veterans Affairs and Health and Human Services departments and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Clifton Williams, in charge of Grant Thornton’s Global Public Sector Health Care practice, said in the announcement.

“With this acquisition, we broaden the know-how we offer dynamic health care organizations in need of advisory and program support services,” he added. “We offer clinical care experience, as well as information technology, financial management, program management, performance management and specific health care knowledge.”
