CGI will build online health info system for CMS

Find opportunities — and win them.

CGI Federal will design and build the Rate and Benefits Information System for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services so consumers can compare local health plans available to them.

CGI Federal Inc. will develop a consumer information system for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under a two-year contract worth $8.9 million.

The award, which was announced Nov. 22 by CGI Federal, calls for the U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc. to design, develop and implement the CMS Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight’s Rate and Benefits Information System, which collects rate and benefits data from health insurance providers.

This information will then be made available on the Health and Human Services Department’s website, healthcare.gov, providing consumers with resources to make appropriate and affordable health and health insurance-related decisions.

Consumers can review benefit, cost sharing and basic price comparison information for the health plans locally available to them.

CGI Group Inc., of Montreal ranks No. 41 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
