CSC acquisition expands its apps testing services

Computer Sciences Corp. has expanded its application testing services with the acquisition of AppLabs Technologies Private Ltd. The financial terms of the deal were not reported.

By purchasing the world’s largest pure-play software testing and quality management service provider, CSC strengthens its place in the high-growth discrete testing market and furthers the company’s multi-year strategic growth plan, a Sept. 14 CSC announcement said..

Philadelphia-based AppLabs complements CSC’s expertise in financial services, health care, manufacturing, chemical, energy and natural resources, technology, and consumer verticals.

The company brings to CSC a strong portfolio of emerging technologies, proprietary methodologies and tools, and a specialized sales force that significantly enhances the company’s capabilities in application-testing services, as well as shortening time-to-market, the announcement said.

The announcement cited research firm IDC as saying that “the independent testing and validation services market is growing faster than the IT services market and is forecasted for strong growth of 21 percent compound annual growth rate through 2013.”

AppLabs has 2,500 employees, an offshore delivery center in Hyderabad, India; and sales and delivery offices in London, Philadelphia, and Lindon, Utah.
