ITT Corp.’s Defense & Information Solutions business segment, which is being spun off as a separate entity renamed ITT Exelis, will establish its headquarters in the Tysons Corner area of Fairfax County, according to a July 18 announcement from the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.
ITT Defense & Information Solutions will invest up to $5 million to establish its new corporate headquarters following completion of its previously announced spinoff from ITT.
The project will create 100 new jobs over the next three to five years across all of its business operations in the Commonwealth, the FCEDA announcement said.
The Defense & Information Solutions segment already has a strong presence in Virginia with its Information Systems division in Herndon and its Geospatial Systems division in Roanoke.
Virginia successfully competed against Maryland and Washington, D.C., for the project.
The FCEDA worked with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership to secure the project for Virginia, including a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Fairfax County with the project.
ITT Corp., of White Plains, N.Y., ranks No. 16 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
