Did SAIC, Jacobs write their own contract?
The Defense Department's inspector general found that SAIC and Jacobs Engineering performed too many government functions under a mine-resistant vehicle contract. Where did they cross the line?
Science Applications International Corp. and Jacobs Technology apparently had a hand at writing their own Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAPs) vehicles deal, according Wired.com’s Danger Room blog.
This is just one of the findings from a Defense Department inspector general report released on July 11 that looked into a multimillion dollar contract to provide logistics and maintenance work for MRAPs, the article said.
MRAP officials improperly administered the contract and “officials inappropriately allowed the contractor to perform inherently governmental functions,” the report said. The contractors were disciplining DOD employees and helped prepare requirements for the follow-on contract that the contractor bid on and won, according to the report.
