DRC pumps in high tech to cut Air Force fuel costs

Dynamics Research Corp. will provide IT assistance to the Air Force in the service's efforts to reduce fuel consumption under a four-year Technical and Developmental Program Support contract valued at $3.9 million.

Under the terms of the contract, DRC will deliver IT services to the Air Mobility Command’s (AMC) Fuel Efficiency Office to help monitor fuel conservation efforts and improve the fuel efficiency of the command’s operations and mission decisions, a company announcement May 10 said. 

Also, DRC will work to automate manpower intensive processes, convert mission information into usable and relevant data, and support changes in IT functional requirements, according to the announcement.

Given rising fuel costs, the technical services and support will help the Air Mobility Command reach its  goal of a 20 percent cost reduction by 2020.

“Since 2008, AMC has saved $81 million in aviation fuel costs through fuel conservation efforts,” Jim Regan, DRC's chairman and CEO, said in the announcement.
