Harris Corp. has completed its $155 million cash acquisition of Carefx Corp., a provider of interoperability workflow solutions for government and commercial health care providers.
Harris announced the definitive agreement to acquire Carefx in February.
The acquisition expands Harris' presence in government health care and provides entry into commercial market, according to a Harris announcement today.
Carefx Chairman and CEO Andrew Hurd will continue to lead the Scottsdale, Ariz., private company, which will become part of Harris's Healthcare Solutions business.
Carefx's Fusionfx platform – which is used in more than 800 hospitals, health care systems and health information exchanges across North America, Europe and Asia – incorporates the latest standards-based technologies and industry best practices to streamline retrieval, access and use of patient information.
The system also aggregates patient information across existing systems and delivers it in a single, clear, clinically relevant view to physicians at the point of care, the announcement said.
"The Fusionfx solution is the industry standard in providing interoperability between disparate hospital systems, giving clinicians the information they need when they need it," said Jim Traficant, vice president and general manager of Harris Healthcare Solutions.
