Former Treasury CIO Duffy joins DRT Strategies

Michael Duffy, former CIO at the Treasury Department, has accepted the newly-created position of chief operating officer for DRT Strategies, Inc. management consulting firm of Arlington, Va., the company announced.

In his new post, Duffy will oversee day-to-day operations for internal processes as well as client engagements for federal and commercial contracts. He will oversee operations for contracts with the Food and Drug Administration, Agriculture Department and Small Business Administration, among others.

Since August 2010, Duffy has been a senior advisor in the Office of the CIO at Justice. Previously, he served as deputy assistant secretary and CIO for the Treasury Department from 2007 to 2010.

Previous to 2007, Duffy spent 15 years at Justice, including holding the positions of deputy CIO, director of telecommunications, director of information management and security and program manager for the Justice Consolidated Office Network. He directed the development of Justice’s law enforcement and counterterrorism information-sharing strategy and the deployment of a multi-agency tactical wireless network.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Massachusetts.

Duffy started working for the federal government in 1987 as a Presidential Management Intern at the Health and Human Services Department.
