Stanley captures pair of health IT contracts

Stanley Inc. has won two time-and-materials contracts valued at a total of $15 million from the Health and Human Services Department to upgrade the national health information system.

The awards from the HHS Office of the National Coordinator follow an award announced earlier this month from HHS to provide operation and infrastructure support for the Nationwide Health Information Network, Stanley said in an announcement released today.

All three awards fall under the company’s Chief Information Officer - Solutions and Partners 2 Innovations contract with the National Institutes of Health Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center.

Under one of the new two-year awards, valued at $7 million, Stanley will develop and maintain a tools and standards repository for the Nationwide Health Information Network to facilitate wider use of the standards and an increased level of interoperability across the nation in health IT.

The Stanley team will work within the standards life cycle, streamlining processes and maximizing the reuse of concepts and components by developing tools that automate process and information flow and establishing a repository for stakeholders to access reusable standards artifacts, the announcement states.

Under the second two-year award, valued at $8 million, Stanley will enhance and manage the NHIN testing infrastructure, including developing an infrastructure of rigorous processes and tools needed to confirm that the candidate implementation system conforms to specifications and can interoperate with other conformant solutions.

The subcontractors on both new awards are the Nitor Group Ltd., 5AM Solutions Inc. and Aegis.

Release One joins the team as a subcontractor on the first award to perform services for the tools and standards repository.

The work will take place in Washington, D.C.
