Raytheon adds defense expert to lead government relations unit
Raytheon Co. has hired Mark Esper as vice president of government relations reporting to Thomas Culligan, chief executive officer of Raytheon International Inc.
Mark Esper has joined Raytheon Co. as vice president of government relations.
He will report to Thomas Culligan, executive vice president of business development and chief executive officer of Raytheon International Inc.
Esper previously was executive vice president of the Global Intellectual Property Center at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and vice president of the chamber's Europe and Eurasia Department.
Other positions include senior scholar at the National Institute for Public Policy, an executive vice president at the Aerospace Industries Association and chief of staff at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank based in Washington, D.C.
From 2002 to 2004, Esper was deputy assistant secretary of Defense for negotiations policy, where he was responsible for all arms control, nonproliferation, international agreements and related matters with the United Nations.
A retired Army lieutenant colonel, Esper is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He earned a master’s degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a doctorate from George Washington University.
