Lawrence Prior III has resigned as president and chief operating officer of ManTech International Corp.

A brief ManTech statement released today said only that Prior had submitted his resignation and ManTech had accepted it.

The company gave no reason for his decision.

Pending a decision on a successor, ManTech International Chairman and CEO George Pedersen will assume the responsibilities of president. The three current operating group presidents will assume the COO duties for their respective operations, the statement said.

“We thank Larry for his contributions over the past year and wish him well in his future endeavors,” Pedersen said in the statement.

Prior was named president and COO and was elected as a director of the company in June 2009. Before joining ManTech, he served in several executive positions at SAIC Inc., including COO and president of SAIC’s Intelligence, Security and Technology unit. Before that, he was chief financial officer and then president and CEO of LightPointe Communications Inc.

ManTech International, of Fairfax, Va., ranks No. 31 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal contractors.
