Serco award boosts Air Force logistics
Serco Inc. will upgrade the Air Force's logistics information and data system operations under a Consolidated Acquisition of Professional Services contract valued at approximately $14 million over two years.
Serco Inc. will upgrade the Air Force's logistics information and data system operations under a Consolidated Acquisition of Professional Services contract valued at approximately $14 million over two years.
The company will support the Depot Maintenance Division of the Air Force Materiel Command's Logistics Directorate by providing analytical, technical and programmatic support for depot maintenance management, according to a company announcement released today.
Serco will support a series of initiatives to increase the productivity of weapons systems, shorten maintenance times, improve defense program planning, enhance the execution of new workloads for weapons systems maintenance, and improve existing information and data system operations.
The goal is to reduce costs for the military and enhance strategic planning, company officials said.
Serco has facilities in Fairborn, Ohio, near the Air Force Materiel Command's headquarters at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The company said it expects to hire an additional 20 employees to add to its growing presence in the area.
Serco, of Reston, Va., ranks No. 28 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
