CSC takes on Navy network services work abroad

Computer Sciences Corp. will provide network services to the Navy under a five-year contract that could ultimately be worth $25 million.

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic chose the company to provide integrated network services to naval fleet users overseas, according to a May 26 company announcement.

Under the terms of the contract, CSC will provide information technology infrastructure support for ONE-NET, the Navy enterprise network outside the continental United States.

ONE-NET provides technical capabilities, such as secure network access, for deployed and support forces at 14 overseas fleet bases and stations in the Far East, the Middle East and Europe, the announcement states.

CSC, which has been associated with ONE-NET for more than six years, will perform the work at numerous locations worldwide.

“CSC’s integrated infrastructure services will improve security, speed and reliability while also allowing for more modern service architectures,” said Austin Yerks, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Defense Group, in the announcement.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 10 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
